Job Description:

We are on the lookout for a remote skilled Staff Accountant – Bookkeeper to join our team. This job requires someone who is able to provide a minimum of 30 hours a week.

This role is client facing and provides everything from full charge bookkeeping to accounting services (BUT NO TAX WORK!) directly within each client’s business. Each client will be different and may need support in a variety of areas, including: bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax filings, inventory management, payroll and benefits administration, month-end close, and financial statement preparation and reporting. This role will function as a member of the client’s team, including communicating with clients, their vendors and employees.

To succeed in this role, you will need to work within the given budget for each client, use the client’s financial software, adapt to scope changes, and be willing to jump in to support new clients or other team members. You will be responsible for between 5 to 15 clients at a time depending on their work schedule and client budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Record financial transactions accurately and efficiently in the client’s accounting software platform.
  • Execute applicable processes related to accounts payable, accounts receivable management, bookkeeping entries, inventory, and closing the books monthly.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing client data
  • Provide strategic recommendations regarding financial planning and forecasting with support from the Manager and/or the Managing Director.
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships and projects while performing within established processes and budget parameters.
  • Organize and respond to daily client communications within 24 hours of receipt using clear, empathetic, and client-friendly language.
  • Identify client needs and recommend services or tools to drive additional client value and efficiency.
  • Support all assigned clients in accordance with defined processes.

About You:

  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Must have experience with the following software platforms: MS Office 365, Quickbooks Desktop and Online, some form of timekeeping software
  • Bonus if you have familiarity with Xero, Bill.com, and any other cloud-based software applications.
  • Have a Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field preferred or an Associates plus equivalent experience.
  • Have strong project management and prioritization skills in order to manage the budget constraints and deadlines of ongoing work and juggle unexpected client needs as they arise.
  • Take pride in refining your communication, both written and verbal, and especially the ability to speak client-friendly language that adapts to each client’s personality and preferences.
  • You are able to learn quickly, aren’t afraid to ask questions, take initiative, are detail oriented, and proactive with your communication.
  • You excel at balancing being thorough and efficient in a 100% remote work environment so you can exceed expectations with limited supervision.
  • Experience supporting businesses with $1M+ revenue, eCommerce, inventory, and public accounting are all plusses.
